Video: Cigna CEO David Cordani Says Now is the Time To Reassess the Blueprint for Employee Well-Being

The pandemic has changed the way we live and work, and it has increased and amplified mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and stress – a new normal that employers all over the globe are grappling with.

That was the impetus behind launching the Evernorth Vitality Index, said David Cordani, chairman and CEO of Cigna Corporation, during a fireside chat with Fortune leadership editor Ruth Umoh. The index provides insights into individual and workforce vitality, Cordani said, and it can be used to help employers build healthy, productive, and highly engaged workforces by helping individuals live their best lives.

“As a global health organization, we set a long-term objective to improve the health and vitality of every life we serve,” Cordani said. “This index will help us to guide individuals to improve their overall vitality and therefore also improve their quality of life.”
