By Julian Hannush, staff writer, The Cigna Group Newsroom

Listen to the latest episode of the Health Unscripted Podcast.

By taking proactive steps to enhance health insurance literacy, employers – and the health care industry as a whole – can create a healthier, better informed, and engaged population.

For employers, the benefits of health insurance literacy are clear: employees who understand their health benefits are healthier, more engaged, and more satisfied with their workplace. Research shows that 75% of people who understand their health benefits are satisfied with them, compared to only 23% who do not. That understanding can also play an important role in attracting and retaining talent.

In this episode of the Health Unscripted Podcast, Liz Berry, senior vice president of talent management at The Cigna Group, speaks with Bryan Holgerson, president of Cigna Healthcare U.S., about why health insurance literacy matters, and how employers, individuals, and health care partners can make a difference.
