MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 29, 2026 – The Cigna Group Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Cigna Group, has awarded a combined $1.75 million to seven Memphis-area nonprofits for community projects that will help residents access affordable primary care, healthy food, nutrition education and activities that support healthy living. Over the next two years, the organizations are expected to reach more than 15,000 residents across the region.
“Trusted community organizations know what stands between people and better health—and how to remove those barriers,” said Sara Quist, senior director of community programs and president of The Cigna Group Foundation. “By investing in practical, proven solutions, we can help more Memphis-area residents get the care and support they need, when and where they need it.”
Memphis was selected because residents face higher rates of diabetes and heart disease, along with barriers to affordable primary care. Local data, research from the Evernorth Research Institute, and input from community organizations shaped the Fund’s priorities.
The 2026 Memphis grantees are:
- Church Health Center of Memphis, Inc. will expand evening access to primary care and related health services for uninsured and underserved adults and families.
- Lifedoc Health will expand primary care, health coaching and support from community health workers for underserved North Memphis residents.
- Memphis Health Center, Inc. will improve blood pressure management through nutrition counseling, care coordination, telehealth and remote blood pressure monitoring.
- Methodist Healthcare Foundation will expand access to nutritious food, nutrition counseling and support to help food-insecure Greater Memphis residents manage their health.
- Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc. will provide nutrition, mental health and financial education to help underserved Memphis families build stability.
- Regional One Health will connect uninsured emergency department patients with affordable primary care and community resources.
- United Way of the Mid-South will help families experiencing economic hardship find and connect with affordable primary care through community partnerships.
